Departure! Finally!

Litha and I didn't make it out of the driveway until around 11am (Saturday, 5/11), when we planned to roll out at 9am. I expected to have some time last night after the move to finish some of the final departure preparation, but it all had to wait until morning. We were all just a bit too wrecked to push through.

Love you, mean it, road's calling, bye!

It turns out I've met myself before, so I knew better than to schedule myself for some mileage heroism on the first leg of the first drive and we only needed to make it to around La Grande, OR the first night.

Ready to roll! (Litha more for the squirrel she just noticed in a wood pile.)

My entire wardrobe! I'm pretty proud of this...

I added this picture of my wardrobe because I can still barely believe I managed to fit everything into such a small space. What is more difficult to believe is how much I had to purge to get to this. I was pretty ashamed at how much clothing I had accumulated for no really good reason. I hope not to ever go back to that kind of accumulation. It seems like such a burden now, even discounting the waste and cost. There are no outer layers or shoes in this pile, those are hung on hooks and stashed in nooks and crannies in the van. In this pile, I have a complete suit (jacket, slacks, skirt, and top), swim top, bermuda swim shorts, coverup, a couple workout outfits (short and long) a wool sweater, about 6 button down shirts, 4 each long & short sleeve tees, sleeveless, 3 pair jeans, capris, 2 pair hiking pants, shorts, base layers, socks, etc. Easily a full week of clothes without wearing anything twice or making bizarre combinations.
